2010: The Year Of The Brain Tumor

When they did my first surgery, the skull piece that they cut out to get at the tumor was placed back into my head.  However, when they did my second surgery to clean out my infection, it turns out that my original skull piece was also infected, so it had to be tossed. Therefore I literally have a hole in my head (dear Liza, dear Liza).  Basically it's like a baby's soft spot.

I will be going in for a third surgery in late September to get a prosthetic piece put in under my skin to fill in the hole in my head.  Pretty cool!

In the meantime, I wear an all sports helmet whenever I'm in a car (just in case of a car accident).  Outside of cars, I just take extra care to avoid bumping my soft spot on any sharp corners.
